Wine Advocate #193 - Feb 2011
Score : 93
More fruit-driven with a fatter, less delineated style in addition to enormous mass and richness, the 2007 St.-Joseph Vignes de l’Hospice exhibits notes of licorice, powdered stone, black currants, blackberries and hints of roasted meat, pepper and earth. This sensational St.-Joseph can be enjoyed over the next 8-10 years. Drink: 2011 - 2021 . Robert Parker .

Darkly toasty, with roasted vanilla and coffee aromas up front, followed by dense, polished blackberry and black currant fruit. Lots of graphite- and loam-filled grip frames the very long, dark fruit-filled finish. Best from 2011 through 2018. 958 cases made. James Molesworth.

Dark purple color. Pungent aromas of blackberry, blueberry, violet and black cardamom, with a smoky overtone. Lush, creamy dark berry preserve flavors are framed by velvety tannins that are quickly absorbed by the sweet fruit. The finish shows very good freshness and clarity and leaves sweet dark fruits and spices behind. This will drink well young. Josh Raynolds.

Deep ruby. Highly aromatic nose combines blackberry, cassis, violet, licorice and cola, with a strong note of cracked pepper. Juicy, precise and appealingly lithe, with sappy flavors of dark berry compote and candied violet. Very suave on the back end, finishing with gentle tannins and lingering smokiness. Josh Raynolds.
