Vintages 2006

Wine Advocate #193 - Feb 2011

Score : 95+

The opaque purple-colored 2006 Hermitage Ex-Voto reveals notes of black fruits, graphite, ink and acacia flowers along with fabulous intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, good acidity and high, but sweet tannins that caress the palate. Despite having spent 42 months in barrel, it remains a youthful wine that should age effortlessly for 30+ years. Drink: 2011 - 2041. Robert Parker.

Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2010

Score: 94

A very dense, slightly brawny version, delivering a mix of crushed currant and warm fig sauce aromas and flavors that are liberally framed with bittersweet cocoa and roasted espresso notes. The dark, anise- and graphite-filled finish needs some time to settle into itself. Best from 2011 through 2021. 725 cases made. James Molesworth.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - Jan/Feb 11

Score : 93

Bright violet color. An exotic, highly perfumed bouquet displays dark berries, cola, black olive and intense florality. Chewy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors show excellent depth and intensity, with sweet violet pastille and fruitcake qualities on the back end. A floral note echoes on the juicy, powerful finish. For a big wine this shows surprisingly lithe character and precision. This wine is made from four prime Hermitage sites: 40% each from Bessards and Greffieux and 10% each from Ermite and Murets. Josh Raynolds.
