Wine Advocate #175 - Feb 2008
Score : 90
The 2004 St.-Joseph Lieu-Dit St.-Joseph spent 24 months in new oak, but you would never know that given the vibrant, sweet cassis, crushed rock, mineral, and floral characteristics. It is a rich, generous, heady red to enjoy over the next 10-12 years. Drink: 2008 - 2020. Robert Parker.

With an alluring nose of spice, clove and crushed dark fruit, this is surprisingly rich for the vintage, with cocoa, tar, fig and tobacco flavors that run through the nicely focused finish. Drink now through 2010. 700 cases made. James Molesworth.

Dark red with a bright rim. Fresh, lively scents of raspberry and wild strawberry are lifted and sharpened by a bright mineral tone. Crisp and elegant in the mouth, showing precise, stony red berry and white pepper tones and a silky, suave texture. Nothing here suggests that this wine won't provide delicious early drinking. Indeed, Philippe suggests that this be "drunk early for its elegance." Finishes with very fine, dusty tannins and a jolt of raspberry fruit. Josh Raynolds.

Dark red. Intensely perfumed scents of raspberry, candied plum, succulent herbs and fresh violet. Juicy, fresh and elegant, with plenty of sweet, clean raspberry flavor. Finishes with gentle tannins, excellent purity and very good length. I underestimated this last year. Josh Raynolds.
